LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Halle Bailey's 'The Little Mermaid' is eyeing $100M-$110M as it opened this weekend on Memorial Day at the box office. Disney's live-action reboot of the beloved 1989 animated classic has weekend and Disney fans excited and some in tears.

The movie has a lot of computers generate effects to create the underwater world and the characters. Halle Bailey’s red hair as Ariel cost a whopping $150,000 to make it look realistic and natural as per a report.

'The film is eying $100-$110'

The adaptation boasts new features and longer sequences, and it is said to have cost a stunning $200 million, the same as the original film's budget. The well-known and timeless story of the mermaid princess Ariel who strikes a deal with Ursula to trade her voice for legs so she can walk on land and fall in love with Prince Eric. The Deadline earlier reported the movie is expected to earn $110 at the domestic box office over the opening weekend. Film Update also estimated $100-$110 sales. 



 

'This movie is so good cried for 2 hours'

With the movie's release, fans are overjoyed, "This movie is so good cried for 2 hours," a moviegoer wrote on Twitter. "Best movie Disney ever made," another Disney fan reacted followed by a crying emotion. "It's an incredible film loved every second of it and Halle is out of this world, her performace is so incredibly beautiful," wrote one more fan. 



 



 



 

'38m only so far lol what a joke'

Although the fans are excited, there are some who did not enjoy the movie, with some critics calling it woke and some suggesting the movie was not doing ok abroad, "Yesterday it was $ 130 million Today morning it was $ 120-125 million Now you're saying $ 100- 110 million? Please tell the real amount," wrote a user. One more Twitter user wrote, "38m only so far lol what a joke." Another alleged, "Huh? Did they reduce their estimate from 150mil? Either way, with its poor performance abroad, it's no wonder the Disney spin machine is in full force." One more lashed, "Why? The whole damn movie was utter garbage wasted my money seeing this! CGI was poorly done. Plus the acting was atrocious especially the person playing Prince Eric.



 



 



 



 

'To be a child again and cry over 'The Little Mermaid'

"One simply wrote, "Woke trash. However, there were fans who slammed those being critical of the movie. "The fact that the new Little Mermaid has 95% audience score on RT really demonstrates the gap between users on social media who gripe about the "woke mind virus warping the minds of white children into hating themselves" & ppl in the real world actually capable of touching grass." Few nonmovie goers also showed a desire to watch the movie as one wrote, "Im not too fond of the movies but I wanna see the little mermaid." More wrote that the movie had them crying, "the little mermaid was so good like it had me leaving the theatres crying it was perfection i couldn’t think of anyone else to play ariel," wrote one. Another wrote, "to be a child again and crying over the Little Mermaid."
