The premiere episodes of the series set up the sad picture of Ptolemy's mind slowly slipping away with Reggie being the only one who takes care of him. Showcasing a very sad side of a 91-year-old senile man, Samuel L Jackson gave an incredible performance that displayed the effects of losing your memory. From peeing in a bean can to being lost and helpless in the memories of the past, the premiere had a somber beginning.
It also showcased a very touching relationship between Ptolemy and Reggie which led to heartbreak when the latter gets killed. From sobbing badly to resolving to find his great-nephews' killer, the premier was an emotional one.
