The much-awaited family comedy satire series ‘The Lake’ is releasing globally on Amazon Prime Video by June 17, 2022, at 3:01 am EST.

What is ‘The Lake’ series all about?

The story of the series is about a completely dysfunctional family featuring Justin (Jordan Gavaris), a recently divorced gay man who comes over to their family’s retreat cottage situated in Canada with his daughter Billie (Maddison Shamoun) in hopes of getting closer to her as a father.

There, Justin meets his evil step-sister Maisy-May (Julia Stiles) who is the current owner of the cottage and has plans of breaking it down. This is when the tug of war starts between Justin and Maisy for the cottage where Justin wants to save it and Maisy wants to tear it down. After learning about Maisy’s evil plans, Justin and Billie have to team up together in order to defeat Maisy and save their family cottage.

The official synopsis reads, “Gavaris stars as Justin, a recently divorced man who wants to connect with his daughter Billie (Shamoun), whom he gave up for adoption as a teenager. He hopes a summer in his family's cottage with the quintessential Canadian cottage experience will bring them closer together. However, Justin is shocked to learn that the new owner of the cottage is his "wicked stepsister," Maisy-May (Stiles). After finding out Maisy plans to tear the cottage down, Justin and Billie have to team up and save their family's beloved cottage”.

The 41-years-old Golden Globes award-winning American star Julia Stiles is known for her brilliant performances in films like ‘10 Things I Hate About You’, ‘Down to You’, and ‘Save the Last Dance’.  She is also known for her portrayal of Nicky Parsons in the ‘Bourne Franchise’. She has also given amazing performances in films like ‘Hamlet’, ‘A Guy Thing’, ‘The Prince & Me’, ‘O’, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, ‘Hustlers’, and so on. She has also acted in the television series ‘Riviera’ ‘The Mindy Project’, followed by television films like ‘Midnight Sun’ and ‘Makeover’. Stiles is going to be seen portraying the lead role of the evil step-sister Maisy in the much-awaited family-comedy drama series ‘The Lake’ releasing on Amazon Prime Video.

Latest News about ‘The Lake’ Series

‘The Lake’ is a part of Amazon's investment in Canada and Canadian productions. The entire series has been shot and filmed in Northern Ontario. The series has been executively produced by Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence. In an earlier interview with a global media outlet, executive producers Michael Souther and Teza Lawrence opening up on what inspired them both to create the series shared that they both were, “inspired by the summers we spent on the lake”.
 
In the same interview, Christina Wayne, who is the Head of Canadian Originals at Amazon Studios, said, “It’s a show that will push boundaries and celebrate broken characters trying to hold it all together against one of the most picturesque settings – cottage country”.
 
Another unknown bit of information about this series is that the first two episodes of the awaited family comedy-drama series ‘The Lake’ are going to exclusively be premiered at the Inside Out Film and Video Festival which is one of Canada's biggest festivals that celebrates LGBTQ+ content and creators. 'The Lake' is also Amazon's first scripted Canadian series.
