As the holiday season approaches, we all crave warm and fuzzy Christmas films to battle the cold outside. And Netflix has the perfect answer. If you’re a fan of Kurt Russell’s unconventional take on Santa Claus in ‘The Christmas Chronicles’, then you’re in luck, because the sequel is headed your way soon.

Release date

‘The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2’ drops on Netflix on November 25.

Plot

The first film tells the story of sister and brother, Kate and Teddy Pierce, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash, and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa and his loyal elves to save Christmas before it's too late.

‘The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2’ takes place two years after the events of the first one, and a lot has changed. Kate, now a cynical teenager, is reluctantly spending Christmas in Cancun with her mom’s new boyfriend and his son Jack. Unwilling to accept this new version of her family, Kate decides to run away. But when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus.

Creators

‘The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2’  has been written and directed by the iconic fantasy filmmaker Chris Columbus. Columbus has written films with cult followings like ‘The Goonies’, ‘Gremlins’, and ‘Young Sherlock Holmes’. He has also directed, among others, hits like ‘Home Alone’, ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’, ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone’, and ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’. Columbus was also a producer for ‘The Christmas Chronicles’. Seeing that a large number of Columbus’ films have Christmas themes, his involvement in the project is basically a guarantee for a fun, family film filled with humor and warm emotions.
