'Superstore' Season 5: Release date, plot, cast, and everything you need to know about the NBC comedy

'Superstore' is a single-camera sitcom that focuses on the lives of a group of employees working at a branch of 'Cloud 9' -- a fictional big-box store chain. The branch numbered 1217, is situated in St. Louis, Missouri.

Release date

The fifth season will premiere on NBC on 26th September 2019.

Plot

In the season 4 finale, Jonah is caught off guard when his girlfriend, Amy, says she never wants to get pregnant. The episode ended with an ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) raid in the 'Cloud 9' store, with Mateo (gay, Filipino 'Cloud 9' associate) being dragged off by them. 

The season 5 premiere is expected to pick up right after the season 4 ending. America Ferrera said during the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 that Jonah's and Amy's relationship plays a big role in the upcoming episodes.

The sitcom also stars Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom, Mark McKinney, and Kaliko Kauahi. Justina Machado ('One Day At A Time') will play the recurring role of new district manager Maya, with whom Amy shares “a surprising connection" in season 5. Heidi Gardner ('Saturday Night Live') will act in one episode in the upcoming season.
