Spoiler alert for 'Supergirl' Season 5 Episode 8: 'The Wrath of Rama Khan'

In Martian Manhunter, J'onn J'onzz, the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) finds an able ally to assist the team in saving the multiverse from the looming 'Crisis on Infinite Earths'. He did have his storyline when he reconciled with his brother, Malefic, who also played a pivotal role in stopping Lena Luthor's Project Non-Nocere. After neutralizing the Q-wave threat, J'onn sent Malefic home to Mars to restore peace in his planet.

In the final minutes of the episode, the Monitor appears to J'onn and stating that he "passed the test". It takes him a brief moment to work out Malefic's arrival from the Phantom Zone was the Monitor's doing. "When I saw you fight in Elseworlds, I could see that you were a great warrior, but one plagued by his past, and that made you vulnerable," the Monitor explained. "You believed it was because you had left Mars, but it was something far, far greater, J'onn. Your brother. But now that you have faced those demons, you have come to learn your vulnerabilities are your strengths, and now you are ready."

At this stage, neither Kara (Melissa Benoist) nor her team is aware of the 'Crisis' that is headed their way and the cosmic entity breaks the news to J'onn. Whether the Martian Manhunter likes it or not, he will be a key member in stopping the Anti-Monitor when the heroes assemble to save the multiverse.

The Malefic-J'onn storyline was a key part of each of the episodes since the premiere of Season 5 and 'The Wrath of Rama Khan' finally ties up the plot point. In the end, that was nothing more than a sibling rivalry — although it did threaten the safety of the universe.

'Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 1' will start off with 'Supergirl' on December 8 at 9 pm on The CW.
