'Supergirl' Season 5: When will Episode 17 'Deus Lex Machina' air on The CW?

The delay shouldn't really come as a surprise considering the other shows, 'The Flash' and 'Legends of Tomorrow' are not airing for the next two weeks

'Alex in Wonderland' established that Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) and Leviathan are the major villains of the season. However, with The CW not releasing a promo of the upcoming episode, there is that question of "When will 'Supergirl' air next?"

Episode 17, 'Deus Lex Machina' had an original air date of March 29, but at this stage, there is no word from The CW about whether the series will air according to plan. The delay shouldn't really come as a surprise considering the other shows, 'The Flash' and 'Legends of Tomorrow' are not airing for the next two weeks. It is still unclear if 'Supergirl' is taking the same route or whether it will go on air as per the initial schedule.

'Deus Lex Machina' sees Melissa Benoist make her debut as a director and will see Lex and Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) get closer while he schemes to get a Leviathan vs Supergirl face-off.

According to Comicbook, the episode will also answer the question of how Lex went on to become a famous figure in Earth-Prime post 'Crisis on Infinite Earths'.  Since the start of the mid-season, Lex has come across as the man who did what he did during the multiverse-shattering battle for a purpose and his nefarious intentions are slowly coming to light with each passing episode.

The official synopsis of the episode reads: "MELISSA BENOIST MAKES HER DIRECTORIAL DEBUT – Lex (guest star Jon Cryer) proceeds to lay an intricate plan to bring Lena (Katie McGrath) closer to him, defeat Leviathan’s latest attack, and pit Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team against Leviathan."

"It is also revealed how Lex came into power after Crisis. Melissa Benoist directed the episode with story by Lindsay Sturman and teleplay by Katie Rose Rogers & Brooke Pohl."

'Deus Lex Machina',  borrowed from a Latin calque, Deus Ex Machina may also shed light on how Lena once again falls prey to manipulation. Throughout Season 5, the fractured relationship between Lena and Kara has been explored and by the looks of the plot point, it seems Lex is just bent on keeping that enmity going.

'Supergirl' airs Sundays 8 pm on The CW. We'll update this article as soon as there is an official confirmation from the network about the air date.
