'Suits' series finale: Will Meghan Markle make a cameo as Rachel for 'One Last Con'?
After nine epic seasons, USA Network's 'Suits' is bidding goodbye to its loyal fans, and it certainly is going to be tearful occasion. This season has been particularly challenging for the firm with Faye Richardson (Denise Crosby) policing all their activities. In time, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl), Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty), Katrina Bennet (Amanda Schull), and Alex Williams (Dulé Hill) learned that the only way to defeat Faye is to do it together—as a family.
That is exactly how they won their first battle, in getting Donna back in the firm, but since then, they have faced many losses, the biggest one being Samantha losing her job. Having said enough is enough, Donna roped in Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) to work with Samantha in fighting a legal battle against Faye. The last episode has been about just that, and unfortunately, even there, they were met with some unforeseeable challenges.
The family is falling apart because Mike and Samantha think Louis and Harvey are working against them. Katrina, who also believes this, and has no clue about the deal Harvey and Louis made with Faye, colludes against the firm, making it even more difficult for them to win the case. And, when she tries to make things right after finding out the truth, she too gets fired by Faye.
Things are not looking great for our protagonists, but the series finale comes with the promise of a happily ever after.
Hopefully, Mike, Harvey, Samantha, and Louis will find a way to win, and we know for a fact that their old friend Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) would be there to witness it. Our wishful thinking expects his Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) to also make an appearance, along with Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres). Torres' presence may be a possibility, seeing as her character is still in the USA Network family, directing the course of Chicago politics in the show 'Pearson.'
Markle's return, however, may be a little trickier, considering she has a strict royal protocol to follow and has even quit acting after her wedding to Prince Harry. However, her on-screen husband Adams shared quite a few photographs of her recently, suggesting that they all miss her, and surely the fact that this show was a huge part of her pre-marriage life would inspire her to come back. After all, she has had no qualms about rewriting British royal history in many other ways.
The showrunner Aaron Korsh has said this in response to her potential cameo: “There is always a chance she is going to pick up the phone and call me and say can I come back, and if she did, she would be welcome back here with arms wide open.”
We are certainly hoping she picks up the phone and calls Korsh, but we will know for sure only when Season 9 Episode 10 of 'Suits,' titled 'One Last Con,' which also marks the series finale, airs on Wednesday, September 25.
