'Spider-Man 3': Tom Holland to start filming for 'Far From Home' sequel in summer 2020
It has been quite a year for MCU's Spider-Man.
While the film 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' crossed over 1 billion at the box office, fans were in complete shock after a public spat between Disney and Sony resulted in the web-slinging hero exiting the MCU.
However, the hero was brought back, thanks to Tom Holland's efforts. And now, things are going forward for the third installment in the franchise.
According to Deadline, while Travis Knight has left Sony's 'Uncharted' film, Tom Holland will begin filming 'Spider-Man 3' this summer.
Holland's introduction as the friendly neighborhood superhero in the first installation 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' gave new life to the iconic character.
Spider-Man first showed up in 'Captain America: Civil War', and then had two standalone films. He was then seen in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and he was also part of the epic showdown in 'Avengers: Endgame' after the effects of Thanos's snap were reversed.
After Spidey returned to the MCU, Kevin Feige had said in a statement in September, "I am thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue and, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spider-Verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."
'Spider-Man: Far From Home' ended on a cliffhanger, as the superhero's identity was revealed by Mysterio to the public.
Not just that, Spider-Man seems to be headed straight for trouble as he gets framed for Mysterio's death as well as the drone attack.
The latest film, directed by Jon Watts, also stars Samuel L Jackson, Zendaya and Jon Favreau.
'Spider-Man 3' is expected to release on July 16, 2021.
