HOUSTON, TEXAS: A Houston mother was sentenced to 40 years in jail for drowning her children in a bathtub in 2016. Sheborah Latrice Thomas, 37, accepted a plea agreement that reduced the amount of time she will spend in jail for drowning her two young children in 2016 to merely 40 years. She was facing the death penalty.

Chilling details of how she killed her children

As per court documents cited by Daily Mail, Sheborah killed her children shortly after they returned from the daycare. She first fed them and drew them a bath calling her daughter first. As the child plunged into the bathtub, Sheborah grabbed her hair and held her underwater until she won't move any further. She then placed the girl's limp body on a bed in a nearby room before calling her son in and drowning him.

The boy struggled as Thomas kept him underwater until he stopped moving, according to the authorities. After that, he was laid next to his sister. Thomas wrapped both of their bodies in sheets and disposed them in the trashcan behind her home.

Thomas was captured on camera inside her old place of business, The Little Cajun Restaurant in Texas, attempting to collect her final paycheck hours after she is accused of drowning her children.

'She started complaining about working too much'

Manager Santiago Wesley reported that she was agitated and sweaty before arguing with the staff. "She started complaining about working too much. She was complaining about not spending enough time with her kids and I'm like, "I understand that. If you need time off, whatever talk to me," but she just kind of blew up that day," he said of an argument they had two weeks before her children's deaths, the outlet reported.

The manager said Sheborah returned to the restaurant on August 12  to collect her final paycheck, however, on being refused the check as it was two days early she, as per the manager, "spent two or three hours here, screaming and hollering, trying to get her last check. Just sweating."

Confessing her crime to a friend

Sheborah allegedly revealed what she had done and that she had to leave the city to a friend who mistook it for a joke. Sheborah reportedly revealed where the bodies could be found and once the friend concluded she was serious, she continued to ask questions. The friend then called the Houston police.

Although Thomas also has a 12-year-old son, he was not at home when the drownings occurred. In 2012, one of the children was discovered wandering the streets with a drunk homeless guy and Sheborah temporarily lost custody of them. A family acquaintance claimed that Child Protective Services and Houston police also paid the family a visit the day before Sheborah reportedly killed her children.
