‘Shark Tank’: Did Kendra Scott ‘bully’ Sienna Sauce CEO? Fans slam Shark for taking ‘20% from Black girl’
Little ‘sauce boss’ CEO Tyla-Simone Crayton was just eight when she first had the idea to create a sauce for her homemade chicken wings. In the latest episode of ‘Shark Tank’, she made quite an impression with her pitch for Sienna Sauce along with her mom, Monique Clayton, from Houston, Texas.
Ever since she presented the product, fans couldn't help but root for her and were fascinated by how an 8-year-old could think about a business plan. The mother-daughter duo came asking for a $100,000 investment at a 10% percent stake in their company. “We would love your help,” Tyla-Simone said.

No sooner did they pitch the product, Kendra Scott was impressed and said she wanted to help them because her first employee was her mom. However, her offer came with one condition — she wanted a 20% stake in the company.
Within seconds, Mark Cuban announced he was out, Barbara Corcoran and Lori Greiner also bowed out. When they asked Kevin, he cut in saying he wanted to talk about “evaluation” and “distribution” and Mark went “Aarghh!” But, a minute later, he also announced he was out. Tyla-Simone's only option was Kendra and the latter convinced her saying, “Because I went through this I am going to take you too...” The 16-year-old then said, “You have a deal!!”
After the episode was telecasted, Sharks had nothing but good things to say about them. Kevin O'Leary posted, “16 years old and already on the motivational speaking circuit talking about the powers of entrepreneurship! What an amazing young woman!” Kendra tweeted, “Can't wait to spice up my life! Loved everything about @siennasauce.”

One too many viewers rooted for Black-owned businesses soon after her pitch on the show. Many other fans were amazed to hear how she got the idea when she was eight. “I’m amazed that this 17yr old girl (and her mom) pitched & secured a deal from an idea she had when she was 8yrs old. When I was 8 the only thing I knew was cartoons,” one tweet read and another said, “KIDPRENEURS ARE THE BESTTTTTTTTTT!!! I love that @ABCSharkTank inspired her!!!! This young lady is amazing.”

However, a few angry fans thought Sharks were bullying people into making deals. “@KendraScott ...sharky deal at 20%. #SharkTank ...why the bullying entrepreneurs into making deals?” Another blamed Kendra saying she was biased. “The bias on #sharktank with this young black girl is really pissing me off! Kendra Scott couldn’t take 30% of the white lady’s company but had no problem take 20% from the Black girl.”
A third said, “I don't like how they manipulated the close on that last deal with the sauce girl. 1 mark is always tryna tell someone if they should take a deal and he ain't puttin no money up. And if the girl wants to counter let her counter. And act like she has the audacity to do so.”
