Screen Actors Guild Awards 2020: Air date, host, ambassadors and all you need to know about the award ceremony
With the onset of the new year, the awards season is in full swing, and up next on the list is the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Almost like the Golden Globes, actors from both big and small screens unite on this night of celebration as they are honored and recognized for their work in the entertainment industry. Here's all you need to know about it.
Airdate
The 2020 SAG awards show will take place on Sunday, January 19.
Air time
The awards ceremony will air at 8 pm EST.
Where to watch
This year's SAGs will air live on TNT and TBS. The ceremony is also available for streaming online or on those particular network apps once logged in from your TV service provider.
Host
Following suit of the Oscars and Emmys, the SAG awards are also going hostless this coming season. Last year we saw Megan Mullally replacing the iconic Kristen Bell as host.
SAG 2020 ambassadors
Logan Browning and this year's SAG nominee Joey King have been named as ambassadors for the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. In their capacity, Browning and King will be participating in the pre-award events ahead of the actual ceremony.
They are also in charge of giving viewers an inside look into the event through social media. The actual ceremony will also see 'The Irishman' star Robert De Niro honored with the 2019 SAG Life Achievement Award.
The ceremony's official website stated that this honor is awarded to actors who foster the "finest ideals of the acting profession".
De Niro said in a statement, "I have been a member of this union for over 50 years. It's an honor to receive this award from SAG-AFTRA." Leonardo DiCaprio will be presenting De Niro with the award at the SAG event this year.
Nominees
This year's nominees include some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, and Jennifer Lopez — all of whom have already wowed us on the red carpets this year.
Among the ensemble, the nominations are also cast of 'Big Little Lies', 'The Crown', 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel', 'Schitt's Creek' and 'Game of Thrones' so expect some major behind the scenes reunion actions.
