'Riverdale' Season 4 Episode 14 fans are not buying into death of Jughead Jones: 'Why isn't anyone crying?'

Spoiler alert for Season 4 Episode 14: 'Chapter Seventy-One: How to Get Away With Murder'

This episode picks up at the previous flashforward presented in Season 3, with Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) burning their clothes and Jughead Jones' (Cole Sprouse) beanie in a campfire. With the confusion behind if Jones is really dead looms over fans as they waited to see the truth revealed, some are hell-bent on the fact that the one-half of "Bughead" isn't dead.

Let's start off with a tweet that probably summarised the episode the best, "I’m really out here considering making my own murder board to figure out what the hell happened to Jughead #Riverdale," tweeted a confused fan.

The last episode had Dark Betty, Cooper's wide-eyed other personality, holding bloody rocks near the Jones' dead body after being hypnotized by a word Donna (Sarah Dejardins) learned from "farmie" nutcase Evelyn Evernever (Zoé de Grand' Maison). This episode saw the trio return to their homes to their unsuspecting parents with different alibis. It seems as though the trio, and especially Betty are oddly calm and are focused on how to take down the real murders instead. "No way Jughead is dead, Betty out here chillin.. whats happening! #Riverdale," tweeted another fan.

Fans were further ahead with their speculations as to Jughead not really being dead.

"So we are all in agreement that Jughead faked his death in order to expose Stonewall & write/live the ultimate murder mystery, right?" tweeted one fan.

"Idk how they did it, but Brett and Donna opened the door just to see Jughead lying on the table seems a little too convenient. He ain't really dead and this is part of Betty and Jugs plan to bring those preppies DOWN. Idk about the details, but #heisntdead #Riverdale," tweeted another.

While Betty claims that the “psychotic preppies” are trying to frame the blonde beauty for murder, Veronica seems to be suspicious of her best friend wondering why she was holding the rocks in the first place. Of course, they should be suspects for murder or at least the disappearance of Jughead, but Charles, Betty's half brother, an FBI agent is back onto the "let me help the Coopers" bandwagon. Let's not forget he has something up his sleeve with Chic - the face behind the gargoyle decade.

The episode may have had the parents worried and Betty going back into a controlled trance to see what came of that night, but we agree with the fans, Jughead can't really be dead, can he? There is not 'Riverdale' without the man behind the ominous storytelling! Fans were upset that if the death was true, why isn't anyone in tears? "If Jughead is dead why isn’t anyone crying #Riverdale," tweeted a fan.

"Love how literally no one seemed to give a SHIT that he was dead. Like.. what the fuck??? That was SO strange and off-putting to me, that there better some huge, yet-to-be-revealed twist that will make it make sense... #Riverdale," tweeted another fan.

Yes, we'd also like to point out that Jughead is still narrating the unfolding of his own apparent demise. In true 'Riverdale' fashion, we agree with the sentiment of this fan, "Idk if Jughead is really dead or if this some kind of plot twist but this has my head spinning #Riverdale."

'Riverdale' airs Wednesdays at 8 pm EST on The CW.
