This article contains spoilers for 'Riverdale' Season 4 Episode 11 — 'Chapter Sixty-Eight: Quiz Show'

In this episode of 'Riverdale', we saw the likes of intellectuals Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Bret Wallis (Sean Depner) take on each other at the Quiz Show Championship. While 'Riverdale' flashforwards foreshadow the death of Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), fans were treated with some light entertainment letting the gore take a back seat for a bit. Amid the competition that seems to be only between the two obvious rivals, Betty ends up answering a question that took millennial Twitter by storm because of its reference to the classic favorite film — 'Mean Girls.'

"Lmaooo. Betty pulled a cady! The limit does not exist! #riverdale #meangirls," tweeted an excited fan. Fans noticed the hilarious reference, and Twitter blew up with gifs on Cady (Lindsay Lohan) expressing the same statement. Both girls, Cady in 'Mean Girls' and Betty end up winning the intelligence testing competition.

While this seems to be an effort to induce light laughter, fans ran with the idea of possibly incorporating the rage girl movie into the thriller series. "After this day I think Cheryl, Betty, Veronica, and Toni need a double dat--er, I mean girls night. A girls night. #Riverdale," tweeted one fan. If you are a fan of the Lindsay Lohan epic delivery, then you'd understand the hilarity that would ensue, if the series swelled on more references.

Riverdale fans took it the extra mile, hoping for the show's annual musical episode to be based on the movie.

"Man, I can’t wait for #Riverdale to butcher Mean Girls the musical next season," tweeted a hopeful fan.

Another fan tweeted, "Maybe it's too early to be talking about next season's musical episode, but I desperately want it to be Mean Girls, just so I can see them do Revenge Party. @WriterRAS //@CW_Riverdale // #Riverdale," hoping to get the attention of the showrunner Roberto-Aguirre Sacasa.

Unfortunately for fans, The CW had already released details of the upcoming musical episode and it's not 'Mean Girls.'

While it may be dud this year, another fan tweeted, "Okay, but where’s the petition to have next year’s musical episode of #Riverdale be Mean Girls? Because just image Cheryl singing Sexy..." We are hoping the show creators are listening, and maybe we might have a Betty-Cady showdown to look forward to in next year's Riverdale High's musical production.

Riverdale airs on Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
