‘RHONJ’ star Teresa Giudice's fears grow amid Luis Ruelas's legal battle with his ex Vanessa Reiser
MONTVILLE, NEW JERSEY: In the latest episode of 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Season 14, viewers got an inside look at Teresa Giudice's challenges as she dealt with her husband Luis 'Louie' Ruelas' ongoing legal battle with his ex-fiancée, Vanessa Reiser. Teresa highlighted that the judge was carefully scrutinizing every detail, ensuring that each aspect of the case was thoroughly reviewed before a verdict was reached.
Soon after, Jennifer asked Teresa, "Is Luis suing her? Is she suing Luis" to which Teresa replied, "No she's trying to get a restraining order against Luis." Jennifer added, "Ok, and is he countering?" to which Teresa responded, "No, you can't counter. You have to defend yourself."
"This case took almost six months. But you know what? If that's what it needed to take, I'm so thankful. You know, we want peace. We want happiness. That's what we that's how we are," Teresa shared in a confessional.
For those unfamiliar, attorney Kevin S Johnson and his law firm, Johnson Litigation Group, have accused Luis and private investigator Bo Dielt of orchestrating a campaign of "harassment and abuse" against Vanessa.
According to court documents exclusively obtained by The US Sun, Luis, Bo, and the other defendants submitted their response on April 18, which included counterclaims that disputed the plaintiffs' allegations of hacking into computers to gather information on Vanessa. The New York-based attorney and his firm were called as witnesses in Vanessa's request for a permanent restraining order against Luis.

In October 2023, a New Jersey judge ruled in favor of the businessman, denying Vanessa's request for a restraining order against Luis. The judge determined that there was insufficient evidence to support the restraining order, thereby shielding Luis from any legal action.
"The court not only dismissed Ms. Reiser’s complaint and denied her application for a permanent restraining order, but also found that she was 'obsessed' with Mr. Ruelas, continuously bothering he and his family," his lawyer said at the time. Luis's attorney went on to say, "In essence, the court held that the filing of the restraining order was akin to a publicity stunt."
In regards to this recent legal case, Luis is firmly standing his ground. He has filed a counterclaim alleging breaches of the implied covenant of trust and confidence, negligence, Res Ipsa Loquitur, abuse of process, a request for a declaratory judgment against Johnson, libel per se, and a violation of Judiciary Law § 487. Luis is currently seeking punitive damages in an amount to be determined at trial, but not less than $5,000,000, as well as compensation for his attorneys' fees.
