'Ray Donovan' Season 7: Sullivans are back in picture, they remind Ray of skeletons in his closet that he wants to leave behind
'Ray Donovan' will soon come back on Showtime, and when it does, we will get to see Ray (Liev Schreiber) turning a new leaf in his life, one that takes him on a path of redemption. There are quite literally many things from his past though, that he wants to conveniently forget, or rather, needs to, in order to move on in life. Ray wants to be a better father, better brother and most importantly, a better man. Will he be able to do become one with all the skeletons in his closet is the real question.
Ray has hit a wall in his life, and thanks to regular therapy sessions with Dr Amiot (Alan Alda), he has a chance of righting the wrongs he made in the past. Unfortunately, one of the biggest skeletons in the Donovans' past involves the Sullivans and it is catching up with him this upcoming season.
We will finally be introduced to these old adversaries of our protagonists when they resurface in Season 7 of 'Ray Donovan' and will get to see exactly what their relationship is with the Donovans currently. We do know that back in the day Ray used to work for them and then something went wrong. It is complicated for sure because while the Sullivans are happy to see him now, 25 years ago, they would have rather put a bullet through his head.
From Mickey's (Jon Voight) perspective, the Sullivans are the enemies from his past that ruined his life, and according to Voight, Mickey is "willing to do anything to get it right". When Mickey makes a decision like that, there is really nothing that could go right afterward. While it is clear from the trailer for Season 7 of 'Ray Donovan' that Ray is trying to be better, surprisingly even apologizing for relying on violence on certain occasions, old habits die hard, especially when you have the ghost of your living father haunting you.
We are excited to mee the Sullivans and see what they bring to the table when Season 7 Episode 1 of 'Ray Donovan' premieres on Sunday, November 17, on Showtime.
