SAVANNAH, GEORGIA: Remains of the missing 20-month-old toddler whose deceased body was left in a landfill were returned to Georgia. Following the death of the 20-month-old Quinton Simon, his mother faces multiple charges, according to authorities.
Leilani Simon, the mother of Quinton, reported him missing from their family's home in Savannah on October 5. Six weeks later, part of his remains was discovered in a landfill. At a Quantico FBI lab, the body underwent additional testing and was returned to Georgia this week. As of Wednesday afternoon, March 29, it remains unclear whether the remains will be claimed by his family or if the remains will be released, reported New York Post.

What are the charges against Leilani?
Including the felony murder charge stemming from Leilani's son's death, the 23-year-old woman currently faces 19 criminal counts. At an arraignment last week where she was denied bond, the accused pleaded not guilty to the killing.
Leilani, who dumped her son's body at a Waste Management landfill, filed a petition to dismiss specific counts in her indictment and to be released from jail to reunite with her surviving 4-year-old son and 9-month-old daughter. However, Judge Tammy Stokes ruled that Leilani remained a flight risk.
Leilani has been in jail for nearly 100 days
Leilani's desperate plea was filed after she spent nearly 100 days behind the bars at Chatham County Detention Center where she is held on a bond. As per Georgia state law, within 90 days of being imprisoned, a bond must be set and after the period is over, the criminal defense attorney is allowed to file a plea to the court to either set the bond or release their client. The alleged killer was taken into custody last November.
Although authorities have not disclosed details relating to evidence that led to Leilani's arrest, it is believed that "an object" that she allegedly used to beat her son leading to his death was found by police. She allegedly caused "serious bodily injury" and murdered her son while she was "drugged up," reported Fox News.
