This time, global streamer is already gearing up to bring a coming-of-age romantic drama film named ‘Purple Hearts’. It is a film adaptation based on the 2017 book of the same name written by Tessa Wakefield.

‘Purple Hearts’ is releasing globally on July 29, 2022, at 3.01 am EST on Netflix.

What is ‘Purple Hearts’ all about?

The film, which is adapted from Tessa Wakefield’s 2017 novel of the same name, tells a story about aspiring musician Cassie (Sofia Carson) and marine Luke (Nicholas Galitzine). Cassie is struggling to make her ends meet even after working at a bar and is drowning into bills, especially after her diabetes diagnosis making it much worse for her. She does a marriage of convenience with Luke who has his own reasons to help her. In between keeping up appearances as a couple for their families and world, they both start falling in love with each other and their marriage gets real despite their differences.

The official synopsis reads, “Despite their differences and against all odds, an aspiring singer-songwriter (Sofia Carson) and a Marine (Nicholas Galitzine) fall hopelessly in love”.

Sofia Carson as Cassie

The singer-turned-actress Sofia Carson is best known for her brilliant performances in ‘The Descendants’ film trilogy. She later on also acted in Hollywood films like ‘Adventures in Babysitting’, ‘A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits’ and so on followed by her performance as Ava Jalali in the Freeform drama series ‘Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists’. She also was seen in the Netflix film ‘Feel The Beat’. She is going to be seen playing the character of Cassie in ‘Purple Hearts’ that would be releasing on Netflix.



 

Other actors in the film ‘Purple Hearts’ include Nicholas Galitzine, Chosen Jacobs, John Harlan Kim, Anthony Ippolito, Kat Cunning and several others.

The film has been directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum and produced by Alloy Entertainment which has given hit series like 'The 100', 'The Vampire Diaries' and so on. Sofia Carson also serves as the executive producer of the movie who has written and also performed the soundtrack of ‘Purple Hearts’ in the film. The script of the film has been written by Kyle Jarrow and Liz Garcia.
