Alison and Greg have been living in their current home for more than two decades. They have raised their kids, hosted friends, families, and neighbors in their cozy home. Recently, Alison was faced with breast cancer, which she fought with the help of her children and lovely neighbors. Finally, she went into remission and recovered from the severe health scare. And now, that Alison has found new hope and gotten a second chance at life, she and her husband wanted to revive their home and household and enjoy life all over again.

Renovation expert duo Drew and Jonathan Scott stepped in at the right moment to assist the couple. The couple’s home was neither dated nor modern; it had elements of a little bit of everything, thus lacking a definitive character. So the Scott brothers decided to do a complete overhaul and making the home look completely new. They reinvented the main floor by creating more space and ensuring a better flow of natural light and air and renovating the master bedroom to create a cozy retreat for the couple. The master bathroom turned out to be a spa-like space with a massive bathtub and a shower cubicle.

Throughout the entire renovation, the one element that stood out and became the underlying theme of the project was the perfect blend of modern country with elements of rustic charm. For instance, the shower space was made sleek and edgy with state-of-the-art fittings and glass doors, while the tub and the dressing area had a very traditional look with an iron-like finish. The dining space was wider with a new seating arrangement; the white table though looked very outdoorish was very contemporary in design. The wicker chairs, complementing the wooden dining chairs added a touch of old country. Similarly, in the kitchen, the theme continued with high wicker chairs for breakfast table.

The brothers also added a geometric backsplash on the countertops which came together well enough with the two-toned cabinets and hardwood flooring. The redesigned home resonated comfort and relaxation with a predominant pastel theme of powder blue, gray, beige, white, and nude tones in fixtures and upholstery. And thus the 22-year-old home became a new living space, which was fun, inviting, giving the couple the perfect place to start the new chapter of their lives.

‘Property Brothers: Forever Home’ Season 3 now airs every Wednesday night, 9 pm/8c only on HGTV. Check your local listings for the latest updates and information!
