Plot
The listed synopsis reads, "The spinoff to 'Power' follows Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr) as he begins college and tries to help his mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) get out of jail. Meanwhile, Monet Stewart Tejada (Mary J Blige) is targeting college students as new customers."

Blige is known for her roles as Florence Jackson in 'Mudbound' (2017) and Justice in 'Rock of Ages' (2012) and also for the soundtracks of 'The Help' (2011) starring Emma Stone and 'Precious' (2009). Her most recent acting roles include 'The Umbrella Academy' (2019) and 'Scream: The TV Series' (2019). She also voiced Queen Essence in 'Trolls World Tour' (2020).

The trailer shows the fallout after Tasha gets arrested for murder - her son Tariq wants to get her a lawyer as she begs him to focus on himself, "live your life", she tells him.Tariq doesn't get off his path though and decides to hire a lawyer for his mother, but the problem is the 500k that he has to first find. What he gets into, may not be for his good, but how far will he go to save his mother? "She needs to come home," he says.
