Netflix 'Pacific Rim: The Black' Season 2: 5 things about anime spinoff from Guillermo Del Toro's franchise
'Pacific Rim: The Black' did what was expected of it. The Netflix anime, set in the same universe and timeline as the visually stunning film franchise created by Guillermo del Toro, packed quite the punch. The movie that preceded, 'Pacific Rim: Uprising' starring John Boyega and Scott Eastwood made for a ho-hum watch, especially after Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba nailed it in the first installment. However, the anime spin-off of the monster franchise packs style and equal substance.
The show’s primary focus is on its human characters -- a brother and a sister who goes on an adventure to find their parents. From the looks of the recently released trailer, ‘Pacific Rim: The Black’ feels more cinematic than the second film and opened to impressive reviews. Rotten Tomatoes rated it a healthy 84% with the critic consensus reading, "While The Black carries over all the grit but little of the humor that distinguishes the Pacific Rim film franchise, its striking visuals and expansion of series lore will likely please Kaiju fans."
