Oscars 2020: 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' wins Best Production Design, Tarantino thanked for 'masterpiece'

Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh have won the award for Best Production Design for 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' during the 92nd Academy Awards, which is being held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The Best Production Design category had the following nominations: 'The Irishman' — Production Design: Bob Shaw and  Set Decoration: Regina Graves, 'Jojo Rabbit' — Production Design: Ra Vincent and Set Decoration: Nora Sopková, '1917' — Production Design: Dennis Gassner and Set Decoration: Lee Sandales, 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' — Production Design: Barbara Ling and Set Decoration: Nancy Haigh, and 'Parasite' — Production Design: Lee Ha-jun and Set Decoration: Cho Won-woo.

'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'  was nominated for 10 awards this year. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the movie features an ensemble cast led by  Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie.

The category was originally called Best Art Direction, with the current naming initialized during the 85th Academy Awards. Last year, 'Black Panther' won in the category.

During the acceptance speech, Ling thanked the art department. Haigh extended this by thanking the craftsmen, construction guys, paint masters and so forth. Ling also gave a shoutout to Tarantino for writing an "epic masterpiece" and for taking them along for the "wild ride."  

This is the second win of the night for 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'. Earlier in the night, Brad Pitt won his first acting Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie.

The movie is also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director for Quentin Tarantino, Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Original Screenplay (won by 'Parasite'), Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Cinematography, and Best Costume Design.

'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'. is the second most nominated film along with '1917' and 'The Irishman'.

The 92nd Academy Awards is being held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
