Oscars 2021: Anthony Hopkins-starrer 'The Father' wins Best Adapted Screenplay: 'Was definitely expecting Chloe Zhao'
Florian Zeller and Christopher Hampton won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the movie 'The Father' starring Anthony Hopkins in the lead. The movie showcases protagonist Anthony's (Anthony Hopkins) interaction with his daughter Anne (Olivia Colman) as well as other characters as they navigate through conflicting accounts of his past and present.
The movie is an adaptation of Florian Zeller's 2014 play of the same name and has collected six Oscar nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards 2021.

Nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay
The nominations in the category of Best Adapted Screenplay included 'Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm' by Sacha Baron Cohen, Anthony Hines, Dan Swimer, Peter Baynham, Erica Rivinoja, Dan Mazer, Jena Friedman, and Lee Kern, 'The Father' by Christopher Hampton and Florian Zeller, 'Nomadland' by Chloé Zhao, 'One Night in Miami' by Kemp Powers, 'The White Tiger' by Ramin Bahrani.
The winner 'The Father' is being hailed as a 'truly stunning' and brilliant feature film, which appeals to the audience in a unique manner. During the course of the movie, the audience is left puzzled as they try to untangle and figure out the truth and reality to be believed.
After winning the 'Best Adapted Screenplay', fans and celebs poured in their enthusiastic reactions about the movie on Twitter.
"The Father is going to be the subject of the most “that’s a movie???” jokes tonight, but my god watch it. It’s truly stunning," wrote entertainment writer Esther Zuckerman.
"Very underrated in this year's running," said writer-producer Louis Virtel.
Actor Hugh Jackman congratulated the makers saying, "Huge congratulations on your @TheAcademyAward!! #TheFather"

The official Academy Awards preshow, ‘Oscars: Into the Spotlight’ began airing on ABC at 6:30 pm ET. With Ariana DeBose and Lil Rel Howery as hosts, it offered a behind-the-scenes look at the big night with red carpet coverage and interviews. The main ceremony started at 8 PM ET on ABC.
