Obi-Wan Kenobi' Episode 5: Tala's death has fans imploring 'Star Wars' to stop Rogue One-ing key characters

With 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' hurtling towards an exciting finish, there was enough in the penultimate episode for fans to rejoice and feel sad. It was the latter that had more effect considering the show killed off a pivotal character who had fast become a fan favorite. Indira Varma's Tala was one of the casualties in the battle at Jabiim after Darth Vader and Reva (Moses Ingram) wade their way in to capture Obi (Ewan McGregor) and Leia Organa.

Essayed by 'Game of Thrones' star Indira Varma, the character plays an Imperial officer who defected. In episode 3, Tala appears in her uniform on a mining planet Mapuzo leading a batch of Stormtroopers only to kill them and save Obi Taand Leia (Vivian Lyra Blair). She assists the Jedi and their allies by helping them with a safe route via an underground railroad called The Path. She was equally instrumental in helping Obi rescue Leia in the previous episode. However, it was a sad, but heroic end to the character.

Tala has been a *star*, as far as I’m concerned, and Haja & Roken are awesome too, another tweet read. 'Rogue One' has to be one of those movies where the deaths of the characters stayed with fans. K-2SO dies defending Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor while they hunt for the Death Star plans. Chirrut Imwe kicks the bucket from enemy blaster fire after throwing a switch that would Bodhi Rook send a message to the Rebel Alliance. The latter dies in an explosion when a shoretrooper throws a grenade, as does Baze Malbus. Erson and Andor die in an earthquake that happens after the Death Star’s destruction.
