CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA: Nick Carter claps back at the woman suing him for sexual battery, says he has a dozen witnesses who will testify against her accusations. The Backstreet Boys singer reportedly claims he has 12 witnesses who will attest that the claimed victim's account of the events is untrue, as per the new legal documents.

According to Shannon Ruth, who filed a suit against Carter in December, he sexually assaulted her after a performance back in 2001 when she was underage as reported by TMZ. The singer cautions against rushing to judgment, claiming to have 12 witnesses including concertgoers, security guards, and a talent manager who testify that the accuser's claims are "factually impossible".

What did Shannon Ruth claim in the lawsuit?

Shannon Ruth submitted a lawsuit on December 2, 2022, seeking $30,000 in damages from the singer alleging that he had taken her to his bus, given her alcohol, made her perform oral sex, then raped her. She was 17 years old and underage when the claimed incident took place in 2001. Ruth also asserts that despite being a virgin prior to the alleged attack, she became infected with the sexually transmitted disease Human papillomavirus (HPV) as a result of the alleged assault. She claimed to have run into Nick while waiting in line for signatures, as per Daily Mail.

What are Nick Carter's claims?

The Billboard Music Award winner asserts that fans, security employees, and a talent manager will all attest to the fact that there was no autograph line or access to the buses on the disputed day. In addition, it is stated in the court papers that a friend of the accuser at the time claimed she did not have autism or cerebral palsy. The witness allegedly stated that they don't think Shannon attended the event. Nick has consistently refuted the allegations and is fighting back for $2.35 million. It's the sum of money that he and the other members of his band allegedly lost as a result of having to postpone appearances and endorsements because of the sexual assault claims.

The singer and his legal team claim that Shannon was duped into making the bogus allegations by Jerome and Melissa Schuman, a father, and daughter in an effort to extort him. In a since-deleted 2017 blog post, Melissa, a former member of the group Dream, claimed she met Nick in 2002 while they were filming the movie 'The Hollow'.

'The truth always comes out'

Meanwhile, the internet has quickly reacted to the news with a user tweeting, "Every fan who attended a Black & Blue show can testify there were no "autograph lines" & the fact that you couldn't get that close to the buses." Many took a stand for the singer. One user mentioned, "Hopefully these liars get their just punishment. I will always have your back." Another person noted, "She will get what she deserves karma is a witch she gonna get hers when she does gonna be sweet cause nick been through hell so i def stand with Nick all the way and always." Another person claimed, "The number one witness would be the woman herself who has publicly claimed he never physically touched her and had only ever “hurt her feelings." Her own words." "The truth always comes out #istandwithnickcarter, remarked another user.
