What is 'Silverton Siege' all about?

The plot for the film is “inspired by true life events that took place in South Africa in 1980. A trio of freedom fighters get into a collision course with the state after a failed sabotage mission, which turns into a bank hostage stand off.” An African National Congress militant arm, uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) is the subject of the film. On learning of their plan to sabotage gas depots, police began to hound the trio. When the fighters were chased into a bank in Silverton, Pretoria, they barricaded themselves inside and took hostages. In the absence of any other alternative, the MK fighters seized the moment and demanded the release of future South African president Nelson Mandela.
