'Paranormal': Meet Ahmed Amin, Razane Jammal and rest of the cast of Netflix's first Egyptian horror series

Netflix is finally about to debut its first-ever Egyptian original and, of course, the streaming platform went with a thriller. Titled 'Paranormal', the supernatural horror is a very 'Serendipity' and 'Shudder' style horror where the protagonist, Reefat Ismail, is lured into the lives of people who see supernatural entities, out of his own encounter with one as a child.

The demons of this experience still confront the man at a much older age and through his haunting, he must help solve the citywide mysterious incidents, teases the official trailer that you can watch below.

According to the plot provided by Netflix, "After a skeptical hematologist is plunged into a series of inexplicable events, he unwillingly becomes the go-to-guy for paranormal investigations." The trailer teases a few familiar faces that you might be familiar with if you're a fan of Egyptian television. Here are all the actors you can expect in 'Paranormal'. 

Ahmed Amin

The Egyptian comedian, actor and writer will star as protagonist Refaat who is haunting by the ghost of a child that was his first love as a child himself. The actor initially shot to fame as a comedian through his online videos viral on Facebook. His next big venture was Egyptian TV show 'El Plateau' which was another grand success for him.

Razane Jammal

The actor plays the role of Maggie Mckillop, who looks like a romantic interest of our protagonist Refaat. Maggie is tormented alongside her partner when his part digs up old hauntings and trauma alike. Jammal, a British-Lebanese actress, and model, started her career in her mid-teens in advertising, before moving onto feature films. Her feature debut happened with he Golden Globe-winning 'Carlos', following which she appeared in Kanye West's 7-screen short film 'Cruel Summer'. In 2014, Jammal had also starred alongside Liam Neeson in Scott Frank's 'A Walk Among The Tombstones'.

Aya Samaha

Known for 'Hepta: The Last Lecture' (2016) and 'Grand Hotel' (2016), Samaha can be seen in the trailer as Huwaida Abdel Moniem. Huwaida looks like one of the mysterious women Refaat encounters in his voyage across dark, supernatural manifestations. The trailer teases the two are engaged, but eventually, it was Maggie who was by Refaat's side. What happens to Huwada? Only time will tell.

'Paranormal' will premiere with all episodes of its debut season on November 5 on Netflix.
