Nestor Hernandez: Parolee charged after killing 2 nurses at hospital while his GF was GIVING BIRTH
DALLAS, TEXAS: Nestor Oswaldo Hernandez, 30, who carried out a shooting inside a hospital in Dallas on Saturday, October 22, killing two nurses, was waiting as his girlfriend was giving birth. Hernandez was on parole for aggravated robbery at the time and had a lengthy rap sheet.
Hernandez who was on ankle monitor was allowed to be at the hospital despite his criminal history "to be with his significant other during delivery," a prison spokesperson told Dallas Morning News. He is now also facing capital murder charges, police said. He reportedly opened fire near the delivery rooms at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

The two nurses who were killed worked in the labor and delivery department at the center, Charley Wilkison, CEO of the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, said. The suspect was shot by cops, detained, stabilized, and taken to a hospital. The identities of the victims have not been revealed. Methodist Health System police, Dallas police and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the shooting inside the hospital around 11 am. Reports said it is unclear what led to the shooting, or whether the gunman targeted those specific nurses.
Hernandez was involved in a December 2011 incident in which he and another person allegedly made "vulgar" comments towards a friend of the victim at a convenience store on Royal Lane in Northwest Dallas. However, when the victim tried to confront them, the person with Hernandez apologized and invited him into their car to share a cigarette.
Hernandez's friend then proceeded to point a revolver in the victim's face and demand valuables. The victim was pistol-whipped when he resisted, and Hernandez went through his pockets. Hernandez was later pulled over in a traffic stop and a cop noticed blood inside the car. Heroin and a .38-caliber gun were also recovered from the car. He subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery and was sentenced to two years in prison.
In 2015, Hernandez was arrested in a second robbery. A woman was walking into her Dallas apartment when a man and woman pulled her down, threatening to kill her. They ransacked her apartment after covering her head with duct tape and locking her in a bathroom, the Daily Mail reported. The suspects left with her car and about $3,000 in cash meant for a school fundraiser. Hernandez and a woman were arrested soon after, and he pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and was sentenced to eight years in prison. However, he was paroled before serving his full sentence.
The hospital has released a statement condemning the latest attack. “The Methodist Health System Family is heartbroken at the loss of two of our beloved team members,” a statement from the system’s leadership said, according to New York Post. “Our entire organization is grieving this unimaginable tragedy. During this devastating time, we want to ensure our patients and employees that Methodist Dallas Medical Center is safe, and there is no ongoing threat,” it added.
