'Mr Mercedes' season 3: Release date, plot, cast, trailer, and everything else about the crime series based on Stephen King's book
The first two seasons of 'Mr Mercedes' made for a riveting watch. Focused on retired Detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) and his quest to hunt down the titular killer Mr Mercedes', the Audience TV show is what one would describe as "a good show". If you have never heard of the brilliance of 'Mr Mercedes', it is probably because Audience TV is a little under the radar, but the thriller is worth taking the effort and a subscription for.
Release date
Season 3 of 'Mr Mercedes' is set to premiere on Tuesday, September 10th.
Plot
The synopsis for the upcoming season 3 reads: “When beloved local author Jonathan Rothstein (Bruce Dern) is found murdered, Hodges, Holly and Jerome, along with local police, must track down his killer. But this case is more complex than the cold-blooded killing of an American icon. Unpublished novels of Rothstein's were stolen from his home, and they are worth millions. As the case unfolds, the trio learns that although Brady may be gone, his depravity lives on in the lives of his victims.”
Seasons 1 and 2 were adapted from the first and the third book in the series by Stephen King. Season 3 is based on the middle book 'Finders Keepers'.
Cast
Brendan Gleeson as Bill Hodges
Gleeson delivers a brilliant performance as the retired detective Bill Hodges - a once highly-reputed police detective who now spends his time drinking. The actor is the recipient of three IFTA Awards, two BIFA Awards, and an Emmy Award and has been nominated twice for a BAFTA Award and thrice for a Golden Globe Award. For his portrayal of Winston Churchill in the television film 'Into the Storm', Gleeson won an Emmy Award in 2009. He is also known for his performance as Alastair Moody in the 'Harry Potter' franchise.
Harry Treadaway as Brady Hartsfield
Treadaway plays the role of Brady Hartsfield, the titular Mr Mercedes. While his character died at the end of the second season, it wasn't as if he wasn't wreaking havoc in season 2 despite being in the hospital in a coma. So fans are speculating that he will be coming back for the third season.
The actor is known for his performances as Victor Frankenstein on the horror-drama series Penny Dreadful and Brady Hartsfield on Audience's Mr. Mercedes.
Breeda Wool as Lou Linklater
Wool is best known for her role as Lou Linklater, who kills Mr Mercedes at the end of season 2. She is now at the center of the third season. The actress is also known for her role of Faith Deluth in the 'UnREAL'.
Season 3 of 'Mr Mercedes' will also see Bruce Dern join the cast as Jonathan Rothstein and Brett Gelman as Roland Finklestein. Natalie Paul will be seen playing the role of Assistant District Attorney Sarah Pace, who is prosecuting Lou for murdering Brady. Gabriel Ebert plays the role of an intelligent but violent literature fan called Morris Bellamy. We will also be seeing 'Orange is the New Black' alumnus Kate Mulgrew play the role of Alma Lane, who works with Ebert's Bellamy to get Jonathan's books after his death, which could be worth millions.
