Morgan Taylor Lund: Woman pleads insanity after stabbing ex-boyfriend 19 times with scissors in his sleep, claims it was a 'dream'
WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WISCONSIN: Morgan Taylor Lund, a 21-year-old woman who stabbed her ex-boyfriend with scissors, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Lund claimed that she experienced a dream. However, investigators called the case an 'attempted murder.'
Detailing the possible dream, the Wisconsin woman claimed she attacked a "dark, scary figure" when, in fact, she was attacking her ex-boyfriend, as per the affidavit given in support of the criminal lawsuit. A mental examination of the woman has been ordered by Judge Bryan D Keberlein of Winnebago County Circuit Court, reported Law and Crime.

'Sister freaked out and boyfriend is bleeding'
On Saturday, February 18, at around 8 am, Oshkosh police arrived at the 500 block of Jefferson Street and found a bloody scene, said prosecutors. "The call was originally dispatched as 'sister freaked out and boyfriend is bleeding,' possibly stabbed in arms," the document stated.
"When officer Bennett reached the top of the stairs, he saw a younger blonde female who appeared to be wearing only an oversized blue UCLA sweatshirt and had the appearance of blood coating both of her legs, her feet, both forearms, and the back and front of her hands," according to documents. The documents also added, "She was leaning over the back of a black sectional couch in a living room, applying pressure to a shirtless male’s upper chest or right shoulder area."
'I thought I saw something'
According to the documents, following the stabbing, Lund's ex-boyfriend expressed his outrage as he asked her, "What the f*** is wrong with you?" She allegedly sobbed and responded, "I thought I saw something," and he replied, "No!"
The man described his injuries as being "all over, on my back, on my chest, everywhere,” and a cut on his scalp. The prosecutors stated that 19 stab wounds were found on him by the hospital medical staff and was given staples or stitches for his injuries. "Copious amounts of blood," was found on the couch and floor of the living room where the apparently bloodied scissors were also found, according to authorities.
Ludn's ex-boyfriend, with whom she lives, is the father of her daughter. According to court documents, "She stated that for roughly six months to a year, she had been seeing a ‘figure” that was dark in color and clearly not a person."
"This morning she said that she remembers waking up at approximately 6.30 am with the baby in the room. Because she was having trouble sleeping, she took the baby out to a large playpen in the living room where V1 was laying on the couch. She returned to bed to fall back asleep," stated the document and added that the 21-year-old woman "had a muddled memory of something that might have been a dream, or her imagination, but she thought V1 was yelling at their daughter."
"She remembers then being in the living room area and seeing this dark, scary figure on top of V1, attacking him. She went over to the couch area and picked up a pair of scissors laying there and began ‘trying to kill’ the dark ominous figure attacking V1. It was not until V1 was screaming at her and fighting back that she realized the figure was not there and she was, in fact, injuring V1. She says that as soon as she realized what was happening she put down the scissors and tried to render first aid to V1,” as per the document, reported Law and Crime.
Ex-boyfriend claimed Lund was abusive
Lund's ex-boyfriend described their relationship as a contentious one and claimed she kept "hitting him on several occasions," and said she was abusive. The couple used to argue daily and he "shuts the argument down because he does not want to be involved with her any longer," the man claimed.
A month or two before the incident, the pair ended their three-year-long relationship. Following their split, the man let her take the bedroom while he began sleeping on the couch in the living room. He stated that he did not understand why he was stabbed," especially in front of his daughter," and claimed there were no issues between them before the stabbing, according to Law and Crime.
