PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY: Princeton student Misrach Ewunetie, who was missing and found dead yesterday, reportedly discussed her academic goals before she . A facilities worker found the 20-year-old undergraduate's body on Thursday, October 20, at about 1 pm, according to university representatives and law enforcement. Her body was reportedly discovered near a set of tennis courts at the edge of the Princeton campus, a remote area that is restricted to authorized vehicles.

Misrach was last seen on Friday, October 14, at around 3 am in the morning, after spending the night out with friends at the university's Terrace Club. Misrach's cause and manner of death will be determined by an upcoming autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office. However, according to officials, her death does not appear ‘suspicious or criminal in nature’ and there was no visible evidence of harm.

This Monday, Misrach's brother, Universe Ewunetie, revealed to 'Good Morning America' that an off-campus resident who was a 30-minute walk away from her home received a phone call from Misrach's cellphone, which he called "quite weird." The narration in the GMA video says, "Back in 2020 our Cleveland affiliate Channel Five got to know Misrach, an honors graduate, during a story and program helping scholars achieve their college dreams." 



 

Brief video footage of the missing student from 2020 was also shared as part of GMA's coverage of Misrach's tragedy and her brother speaking out. Misrach was heard stating in the disturbing follow-up video, "Taking classes at a college level in the summer really helped me feel comfortable knowing I could handle the course load." Before Misrach’s body was found, Universe Ewunetie told the Sun that Misrach, 20, was sharing her location with a family member when she went missing on Friday. However, her phone pinged off-campus in Penns Neck, New Jersey before it was turned off, he said.

It's unclear how Misrach's phone ended up several miles away from where her body was found on Thursday, October 20. Princeton University also released a statement after Misrach’s body was found, saying, "Misrach’s death is an unthinkable tragedy. Our hearts go out to Misrach’s family, her friends and the many others who knew and loved her. Princeton is a close-knit community and we mourn Misrach together."



 

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy also expressed his condolences by writing on Twitter, "We are heartbroken by the tragic news that missing @Princeton University student Misrach Ewunetie was found dead this afternoon. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and fellow students who knew and loved her."
