'MasterChef Junior' Season 8: Fans say 8-year-olds chefs are making them feel 'incompetent'
Mastering your way around the kitchen requires a combination of intuition and practice. It can take years for people to hone their talents when it comes to cooking and even then, they often come across ingredients that humble them. But for the young and bright-eyed chefs of 'MasterChef Junior' Season 8, they're all set to prove their worth and aren't afraid of a challenge.

To kick start the season, the kids had to work with a mystery ingredient. Some of the participants had to work with fruits -- Andrew had to work with lychee as his star ingredient, Abir landed kiwi, Ciara got dragonfruit, Eva scored raspberries, Starla had to use dates, Tegan landed pomegranates, and Ivy used apricot. Some of them had to use protein -- Liya had to use eel, Cruz got octopus, Blake got crawfish, A'dan had to use lobster, Maclain scored snapper and Molly had to use chicken. While the rest got vegetable-based ingredients -- Freddy scored olives, Greyson ended up with okra and Jillian got pickles.
While the kids got cracking to it, fans were in awe of their talent, seeing that they all approached their dishes with tenacity, creativity and expertise that could rival any seasoned chef!
