Taylor Dunklin and Brandon Reid to star in 'Married At First Sight' self-shot spin-off show?
A week before 'Married At First Sight' goes into its season finale, Lifetime announces a spin-off series of the hit reality show. It's called 'Married at First Sight: Couples’ Cam' and will release on May 20, Wednesday.
The format of the show remains the same as 'Married At First Sight' except this time it'll all be self-shot. There will not be a full-fledged camera crew following the couples like a guided missile. However, the show also aims to capture intimate moments of the couples' lives, including the birth of a child. For this, the makers have gotten on board nine adored and loved couples from previous seasons.
Jamie Otis and Dough Hehner (Season 1), Anthony D'Amico and Ashley Petta (Season 5), Jephte Pierre and Shawniece Jackson (Season 6), Danielle Bergman and Bobby Dodd (Season 7), AJ Vollmoeller and Stephanie Sersen (Season 8), Kristine Killingsworth and Keith Dewar (Season 8), Jamie Thompson and Elizabeth Bice (Season 9) and Deonna McNeill and Greg Okotie (Season 9) have been confirmed for the upcoming spin-off series, People reported, adding that a couple from the current season will join the cast as well. The bosses at Lifetime are keeping it a secret because there's still time for 'MAFS' 10 to go off air.
However, one can make guesses. Season 10's Brandon Reid has often got into tiffs with the production team over relentless filming and that was taken as his way of getting out of the marriage and finding excuses to not spend time with Taylor Dunklin. But in today's episode (April 8) of 'MAFS,' she cleared the air, said they spend quality time with each other when they are by themselves in the house and a few of those moments were captured on CCTV camera and later aired.
Was it a subtle hint saying that no matter what happens on the show, they will be around for the spin-off? Time will tell.
Taylor and Brandon's equation has not been healthy ever since he bailed on her after returning to Washington DC after their honeymoon in Panama. They have simply not been able to be on the same page despite having open and honest conversations with each other. Let's hope they are willing to give their relationship another shot and able to make a prudent call on decision day.
Meanwhile, Gena McCarthy, EVP, Unscripted Development and Programming, Lifetime and Head of Programming, said: "With the uncertain times we are all facing and having to pivot our production practices, we are thrilled to be able to deliver this special and exciting new series to give our fans even more of what they love.”
'Married at First Sight: Couples’ Cam' will air on Lifetime at 8 pm ET/ PT.
