'Our lives matter'

As of now, there is no official statement on the possible motive behind the murder of Castro. The authorities have asked people to come forward and share information by calling its homicide division at 713-308-3600 or submitting a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, as per ABC News.

"I am so happy that finally, law enforcement is doing something about it to find those responsible. Our lives matter," Elia Chino said, executive director of Fundación Latinoamericana De Acción Social, a group that aids Houston's LGBTQ Latino community.

"Sadly, that is life sometimes," Castro's brother said, before adding, "The person who commits these crimes is out in the streets. Sometimes they are never caught, but God will take care of that." Apparently, Castro lived with his brother before she moved to Houston, as reported by ABC13.
