Marisela Castro: Boy, 17, arrested after trans woman was found dead outside her home in Houston
HOUSTON, TEXAS: Houston police have arrested a teen suspected of killing a transgender woman outside her home. A 17-year-old boy allegedly shot dead Marisela Castro, 39, on July 29, 2022. The authorities also mentioned that they are searching for the second suspect involved in the murder.
The victim reportedly was with another person and had just walked out of her car when the attack took place. According to the police, two suspects ran away in Castro’s car before abandoning it in the nearby area. At present, the Houston police department is scanning the surveillance footage they have obtained from the location where the shooting took place.

Teen faces capital murder charge
Houston police department shared the news of the arrest on Thursday, March 16, as the arrested teen faces a capital murder charge. However, as per their investigation, the boy in custody didn’t fire the trigger.

'Our lives matter'
As of now, there is no official statement on the possible motive behind the murder of Castro. The authorities have asked people to come forward and share information by calling its homicide division at 713-308-3600 or submitting a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, as per ABC News.
"I am so happy that finally, law enforcement is doing something about it to find those responsible. Our lives matter," Elia Chino said, executive director of Fundación Latinoamericana De Acción Social, a group that aids Houston's LGBTQ Latino community.
"Sadly, that is life sometimes," Castro's brother said, before adding, "The person who commits these crimes is out in the streets. Sometimes they are never caught, but God will take care of that." Apparently, Castro lived with his brother before she moved to Houston, as reported by ABC13.
