Who are Kara Walker and Melanio Gomez? 'Making It' brings surprise twist in first episode
Was it the ravaging pandemic that made the bosses at 'Making It' go easy on the crafters? If that's the case, no one's complaining. Especially not the eight crafters who have now taken a step towards the $100,000 grand prize. Holdover hosts Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler put up quite the skit before they announced no one was going home on Season 3 Episode 1. Moments later, the existing contestants were introduced to new entrants Melanio Gomez and Kara Walker. More on them in a bit.

Who are Melanio Gomez and Kara Walker?
Not much known is about Walker and we promise to update this space once we have sufficient information. Melanio Gomez, on the other hand, is a well-known name and has been around in the art industry for years. He calls himself a prop stylist and set designer who has worked with high-end luxury brands to help them achieve certain style goals.
He writes in his blog: "I began freelancing – working with Estee Lauder creating their displays, packaging, & special event graphics, with Tiffany & Co. as an illustrator, designing imagery for trophies, with a private label producer of fashion underwear, & with a firm that specialized in catalogs for high-end retail centers. I gained experience as a art director, stylist, & video producer, working with models — for clients that included Ralph Lauren, The Limited, Old Navy, & The Gap."
During his years as a freelancer, this crafter decided to establish a firm with two art school friends. Top Spin was a multi-disciplined design firm and it produced a wide range of industrial, graphic, & product designs. Evidently, Gomez has the most experience of the (now) 10 crafters who have been pitted against one another in the reality competition series.
