Maine mass shooting: Nickelback trends after suspected shooter Robert Card listed it as his favorite band
LEWISTON, MAINE: A horrifying mass killing took place on Wednesday night in Maine. Dozens of people are reported to have been killed and many others are left injured. The gunman, still on the loose, is reported to have followed a mass shooting at multiple locations near Lewiston.
The person of interest in mass killing has been identified as a man named Robert Card. AP News reports Robert was trained as a firearm instructor in the US Army Reserve. As soon as his name popped up, the 40-year-old's Facebook profile started being shared on social media.
And, it was revealed that the alleged shooter's interest lies in the Nickelback band. In no time Nickelback started trending on social media. A user shared Robert's Facebook page screenshot saying, "Lewiston shooter Robert Card’s actual Facebook profile He’s a Nickelback fan."
Another shocked user wrote, "Poor Nickelback…. They didn’t deserve this." Another angry user tweeted, "We have to shut nickekback down until we figure out what the hell is going on."
One shared, "Alleged Lewiston Maine shooter Robert Card was a big fan of the band “Nickelback” according to his Facebook page." To this, another replied, "And they were all Nickelback fans, so I hear. The devils music."

Suspected Maine Shooting shooter Robert Card treated at mental health facility
Suspected shooter Robert has been reported to be a firearm instructor. He was trained by the military. However, in Summer 2023 he was committed to a mental health facility for 2 weeks.
The details of Robert's mental condition and what treatment he went through while in a mental health facility are not yet disclosed. Robert was reported to be hearing voices.
He also previously threatened to carry out a mass shooting in a military training base.
22 killed and dozens wounded in Maine shooting
At first, there were reports of 16 people being killed in the mass shooting. But, now the new update claims at least 22 people have been killed in Mine Shootings.
Moreover, dozens of people have been injured. During the mass shooting incident, a bowling alley came under fire. There are reports of shootings taking place at a local bar as well.
Police are still on the hunt for the suspected shooter and have advised the locals to be aware of the situation.
President Joe Biden to provide full federal support amid Maine shooting
President Joe Biden addressed the situation as soon as the Maine Shooting took place. The White House released an official statement on Wednesday evening.
The statement said, "The President has been briefed on what’s known so far about the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, and will continue to receive updates."
Governor of Maine, Janel Mills, claimed she will remain in close contact with the people of Maine and public safety officials. According to the reports, the President has also offered "full federal support in the wake of this horrific attack."
Local schools in Maine will be closed on Thursday and people are advised to seek safety.
