'MAFS': Olajuwon slammed for saying non-traditional wife would be a dealbreaker

Olajuwon stated that his wife needs to know how to cook and fans saw that as a red flag

The couples on 'Married At First Sight' often believe that they are ready for marriage. But that might not always be the case. After all, relationships take time and effort, and it is important to know your partner. Last season, the couples claimed to be ready for commitment, but as the season played out, they were far from it.

Johnny and Bao fought over minor things, Zack and Michaela got into massive arguments, and then there was Brett and Ryan, who lacked any magic. Now, fans are worried about Season 14's Olajuwon and Katina and here's why.

As Olajuwon sat down with his family and friends to break the news, he spoke about how he had taken time out to work on the person he wanted to be. He mentioned that previously, he was 'Issac' (his middle name) to women. Issac only wanted to live in the moment and never worked towards anything real. But seeing the people around him have happy marriages, he soon learned that he wanted that too, which encouraged him to join the process. But when the topic about what kind of a woman he wanted to be with came up, Olajuwon made some startling admissions. He claimed he wanted a traditional wife who would always have a hot meal ready when he got home. He was adamant that he didn't want meals to be a guessing game or one that came out of a can. When a friend pointed out that maybe the woman he's paired with might not know how to cook, he declared it was a deal-breaker. His friend pointed out that marriage is about working together, not defined roles.

Fans were rather shocked by Olajuwon's ideas. "The idea of cooking for a man every night physically sickens me, that's how I know I'm not cut out for being married. #MAFS #MarriedAtFirstSight" tweeted a fan. "I have a theory at least 1 or 2 dudes on #MAFS every season don't want an actual woman w thoughts & feelings as a wife - they want some weird Stepford wife to serve them" added another. "holdawn...after that cooking discussion i retract all statements made about him. #mafs #marriedatfirstsight" stated a fan. 

But while Olajuwon seemed to worry fans, Katina, the woman he was paired with wasn't in the clear either. Katina who had been in a bad relationship before where she was cheated on claimed she was ready for a family and a marriage, but fans weren't too convinced.

"I feel like neither one of these party people are ready for commitment nor would they recognize love if it slapped them in the face  #marriedatfirstsight #mafs" added another. "Katina takes less from men because she lacked a male presence growing up. I think she'll unfortunately allow Olajuwon to get away with a lot. Toxic relationship alert #mafs #MarriedAtFirstSight" tweeted another.
