'MacGyver' Season 4 Episode 3: Henry Ian Cusick on Mac's story and why this is his happiest filming experience
Spoiler alert for 'MacGyer' Season 4 Episode 3 'Kid + Plane + Cable + Truck'
Another exciting new episode of 'MacGyver' has arrived and this one is a little more personal than what we have seen in the season so far, with the Phoenix Foundation scrambling to rescue a child and his father from dying in a horrible plane crash.
MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) caught up with Henry Ian Cusick, who plays the enigmatic Russ Taylor on the show, for an exclusive chat a few hours ahead of the episode airing. He spoke about how Episode 3 steps away from the overarching conspiracy to deliver a smaller story that's still pretty brilliant.
Cusick told MEAWW, "So it really is about, even though we are serialized we step away for a moment from Codex and we become, it's a bit more sort of a personal story for Mac in the sense that he's helping a little boy who's trapped on a plane and his father's had a heart attack."
"We're trying to get him and to get them off. We're on the plane, on my expensive jet right next to them. But really, that is the story and so we step away from Codex as I said, and it becomes a little more — it's a smaller story but it's still pretty cool. I mean, I saw some of the visual shots already and I thought it looks great," he added.
This is Cusick's first season on the show but he's already become a beloved cast member for many. He also spoke about how welcoming the cast and crew have been and how 'MacGyver' has been one of his best filming experiences ever.
"Yeah, I'm having a blast," he said. "I mean, I have to say the cast has been incredibly welcoming. The crew has been just beautiful. So I have to say honestly, it's one of the happiest filming experiences I've ever had."
'MacGyver' Season 4 airs new episodes every Friday at 8/7 c only on CBS.
