'Love Alarm' Season 2 shows how a momentary lapse in judgment and fear of getting her heart broken and her pride destroyed took Jojo (Kim So-hyun) away from the person that she had truly loved. In the present, when Jojo is at crossroads, all that she can do is hope that she makes the right choice because this time around the Love Alarm app will not help her discover who she loves.

The shield in her app stops her from being able to show her feelings not only to Sun-oh (Song Kang) but Hye-young (Jung Ga-ram) as well. She had believed that she was ready to move on, but that doesn't seem to be the case either and the more secrets she keeps from Hye-young, the further she is moving away from him. Initially, the one who had kept a secret was Hye-young who had learned that his father was in jail, and was trying to get parole at the moment.

Everything that he had believed about himself has now become a lie because he had grown up believing his father was a good man, and so was he. Initially, he had not wanted to let Jojo know because he did not believe that he was a good person anymore. Thankfully, Jojo had realized that he was hurting, and tried to assuage his fears by visiting the jail with him. His secret, however, is not the one that will come in the way of their otherwise sweet romance.

It is her secret. For the longest time, she has kept the truth about the shield on her app from Hye-yeong, and now, she has to tell him the truth as she is being cornered by Sun-oh. She has realized that he will no longer believe an app, and he did say that he will only judge her feelings towards him by looking at how she expresses. Before she could tell Hye-yeong, however, he realizes something is wrong. She disappears from the list of people who would like him, a list that the app curates. This happens right after Sun-oh kisses Jojo, like he did the first time in Season 1.

Momentarily, Jojo is reminded of how she had loved Sun-oh. However, she feels guilty towards Hye-yeong and it is this guilt that stops her from telling the truth to him. He continues to act as if nothing it wrong, but when Jojo is not around, he is struck deep with loneliness. The only person he had ever loved doesn't seem to like him back despite all the efforts that he has put and this absence of reciprocation is what will put an end to Jojo's love.

She hopes that the alarm will help her make a decision as to which relationship must be ended and that is why she seeks the developer of the app desperately. She wants to be able to reciprocate Hye-yeong's feelings because he is stable, caring, and supportive. Sun-oh on the other hand is a storm that she doesn't want to face. The more secrets she continues to keep from Hye-yeong, the lonelier he will feel despite being in a relationship and this will put an end to their comfortable relationship.

'Love Alarm' season 2 premiered on Netflix on March 12 and all six episodes are available to stream.
