'This is the sort of thing I wanted to experience back then. I'll watch the whole series when it drops, with enthusiasm,' said Gaiman

'The Sandman' became one of the most popular Netflix fantasy shows of all time. Now its author is praising and fan-boying over another fantasy TV series that is yet to be released. Neil Gaiman, known for his very popular fantasy genre work like 'The Sandman,' 'Stardust', and 'Good Omen', has always acknowledged the fact that 'The Lord of the Rings' writer JRR Tolkien was an inspiration for his own work. 'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' will premiere on Thursday, September 1, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video, with the first season consisting of eight episodes.

'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power's storyline is set thousands of years before the events of 'The Hobbit', and 'The Lord of the Rings'. The series is based on author Tolkien's history of Middle-earth. It begins during a time of relative peace and covers all the major events of Middle-earth's Second Age - the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the island kingdom of Númenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men. These events take place over thousands of years in Tolkien's original stories but are condensed for the series.

On Twitter, Gaiman gave his early reaction to the 'Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power' when asked by a fan. Gaiman walked down memory lane and shared how as a child he bought 'The Silmarillion' and was disappointed, as many readers were, by its dry storytelling and lacking the gusto of Tolkien's other works.

Gaiman tweeted, "Really, really fun. I remember buying the Silmarillion as a schoolboy when it was published and it very much not being the prequel I was hoping for. This is the sort of thing I wanted to experience back then. I'll watch the whole series when it drops, with enthusiasm."

However, the 'Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power' already has a fan base, and hopefully, it'll garner a lot more when it premieres. Amazon's 'Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power's budget is a staggering $1 billion, according to reports. It is wild how much money gets invested in these fantasy dramas to make them worth the viewers' time. Life isn't perfect but your favorite series can be, at least we know that now. Fans are guessing 'The Rings of Power' will be what pushes the other fantasy series to that next level, and early reactions like Gaiman's make that a more tangible possibility.
