'Little Women': Release date, plot and how to watch the K-drama starring Kim Go-eun and Wi Ha-joon

Louisa May Alcott's most loved novel 'Little Women' will soon be on television in a new avatar. The latest adaptation will be from South Korea with a localised version of the story. The original novel follows the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy and details their journey from childhood to womanhood. The story is loosely based on the the lives of Alcott and her three sisters.

The novel was an immediate commercial and critical success. After a recent K-drama appearance in 'Yumi's Cells 2', Kim Go-eun will make a comeback as the oldest of the three Oh sisters. The show will also star Wi Ha-joon, who shot to fame after starring in the Netflix original, 'Squid Game,' as well as Nam Ji-hyun as the middle sister. Ji-hyun was seen in popular K-dramas like 'Suspicious Partner' and '100 Days My Prince'. The show also features Park Ji-hoo as the youngest sister. Ji-hoo was seen in the K-drama 'All Of Us Are Dead'.

Release Date

The K-drama will be released on September 3. The tvN drama will premiere new episodes every Saturday and Sunday and will take over the slot held by 'Alchemy of Souls'. The show will air at 9:10 pm KST (8:10 am ET) from September 3 onwards. 

Number of Episodes

The K-drama is shorter than a usual K-drama. 'Little Women' will have a total of 12 episodes.

The Kim Go-eun and Nam Ji-hyun-starrer K-drama will be broadcast via the South Korean tv platform - tvN. The show will be made available for international fans via Netflix and will be released at the same time globally.

Kim Go-eun as Oh In-joo who is the eldest among the three Oh sisters. After growing up in a terribly poor environment, she is still poor. Ever since she was young , In-joo realises that money is the most important thing to protect herself and her family. After dreaming to live an ordinary life like most people, In-joo gets involved in a case that could change her life.



 

Nam Ji-hyun as Oh In-kyung is the middle sister who is an enthusiastic reporter at a news station. In-kyung believes in doing the right things. Despite being poor, she does not let money rule her life. In-kyung begins investigating a mysterious case that potentially changes her life.



 

Park Ji-hoo as Oh In-hye is the youngest of the three sisters and a student at a prestigious art high school due to her natural drawing skills. She is extremely loved by both her sisters.



 

Wi Ha-joon plays Choi Do-il is In-joo's romantic interest. He has graduated from a prestigious university and becomes involved with In-joo

Plot

The K-drama follows the journey of three sisters who share a close bond as they grow up in poverty. The sisters get embroiled in a major incident that sets them up against the wealthiest family in the nation. The eldest sister Oh In-joo wants to protect her family with money in contrast to On In-kyung who does not believe in the power of money and wants to do the right thing at all times. The youngest of the three sister is In-hye who is an art student. Although she has never even used decent art supplies due to their family’s financial situation, she enters an art school with her natural talents.

Teaser

According to the teaser of the show, Oh In-joo finds 70 billion won all of a sudden after living an extremely poor life. She deliberates between keeping the money or returning it. When her just sister In-kyung asks to return the 'stolen money', In-joo promises that the Oh family will live a normal and decent life with the money. Watch the teaser here.
