Patrizia Reggiani was the wife of multi-millionaire Maurizio Gucci, whom she married in 1972. The pair’s love story started on a very happy or rather filmy note as the two started dating soon after their first meeting. They also tied the knot against Maurizio’s father Rodolfo Gucci’s wish. They began living a very luxurious life after shifting to New York. The pair together welcomed two daughters — Alessandra Gucci in 1977 and Allegra Gucci in 1981. However, things started to take a turn for the worse when Maurizio couldn’t take responsibility for his business. He failed to handle it. He also began a relationship with another woman named, Paola Franchi, following which the nightmare started.

Patrizia plotted the murder of her husband with her acquaintance and three men. On March 27, 1995, he was killed at the age of 46. Two years later, his wife and the other people involved in the crime were arrested and charged. In 1998, Patrizia was convicted of organizing the murder of Maurizio. She was initially awarded 29 years, which was reduced to 26 on appeal. However, she served 18 years and was released in October 2014.
