Martin Scorsese is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and whether he watches Marvel movies or not, his popularity continues to soar year after year. The legendary director is now set to keep the viewers at the age of their seats with his latest offering ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in pivotal roles. However, none of the aforementioned names are playing the lead role.
The lead role in the movie is being played by none other than Jesse Plemons, an actor known for his roles in movies like ‘I’m Thinking of Ending Things’ and ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ will be Scorsese’s first film after 2019’s critically-acclaimed ‘The Irishman’. The Oscar-winning filmmaker is finding it difficult to find distributors for his movie in recent years. ‘The Irishman’ could not find any distributor because of its length and Netflix took a chance by taking the rights of the movie. The movie was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and received universal acclaim.
Can ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ achieve the same level of success for Apple? The tech giant would surely be hoping for that.
Release date
There is no confirmed release date as of yet. According to reports, the filming is expected to begin in March 2021, making a 2022 release seem likely. The production was supposed to start last year but could not due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Plot
The movie, based on the novel “Killers Of The Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and The Birth Of FBI” is written by David Grann. The story revolves around the brutal murders of the Osage tribes in the U.S. that led to an FBI investigation.
The official synopsis reads: “The movie takes place in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts a string of brutal murders of Osage Nation Native Americans, which came to be known as the Reign of Terror. As the death toll rose, the newly-created FBI took up the case and unraveled a chilling conspiracy and one of the most monstrous crimes in American history."

Robert De Niro
De Niro and Scorsese have made nine feature films and one short film together since 1973. They worked together for the first time in the movie ‘Mean Streets’ and collaborated once again in 1976 for the critically acclaimed ‘Taxi Driver’. Since then, the duo has worked on projects like ‘New York, New York’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘The King of Comedy’, ‘Goodfellas’, ‘Cape Fear’, ‘Casino’, and ‘The Irishman’.
Many of their movies are often ranked among the greatest films of all time.
Apart from working with Scorsese, De Niro has worked in classics like ‘The Godfather Part II’, ‘The Deer Hunter’, ‘Once Upon A Time in America’, ‘The Mission’, and ‘Heat’. On the other hand, he played a pivotal part in recent movies like ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, ‘The Intern’ and ‘Joker’.

Leonardo Di Caprio
A lot has been written about DiCaprio and his acting skills, but he always shows something different whenever his new movie comes out. Two years later, they worked together once again in ‘The Aviator’.

Jesse Plemons

Currently, he can be seen playing Roy Mitchell in the movie ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’.
Lily Gladstone
Born on August 2, 1986, Gladstone is known for her roles in the TV show ‘Billions’ and movie ‘First Cow’. The actress has featured in ‘Winter in the Blood’, ‘Walking Out’ and ‘Room 104’. Gladstone will be playing the role of Mollie Burkhart in the movie ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
