The arrest and confession of Jesus V Medrano III
Subsequently, officers located Medrano III at a nearby residence, where he had reportedly knocked on the door.
They tracked his blood-stained footprints in the snow to a cellar, where he was found sitting with a machete in his hand. He expressed to them, "Just kill me."
In an interview with the police, Medrano III confessed that he had touched his stepsister inappropriately while she was sleeping and brought a machete into the room in case his father confronted him.
He said he tried to silence her with a pair of socks when she woke up and threatened to tell her mom.
He proceeded to strangle her until his father entered the room, using the light from a cell phone to inquire about the situation.
In response, he answered, "nothing," and proceeded to stab his father in the stomach. He then leaped over him to assault his stepmother, who had also entered the room.
He claimed that he accidentally stabbed himself in the thigh during the struggle. Following the incident, he fled the house.
“I just snapped,” he told the police. “I don’t know why I did it."
