LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: The disturbing case of two teenagers, Jesus Ayala, 18, and Jzamir Keys, 16, accused of killing retired police chief Andreas Probst, in a hit-and-run took a chilling turn when the duo appeared in court to get a trial date.

Both face multiple charges, including numerous felonies, most notably murder, in connection to the death of the 64-year-old Andreas.

Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys show disrespect and indifference in court

What made Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys' courtroom appearance particularly shocking was their conduct as they were seen smirking, laughing, and even making obscene hand gestures, all while Andreas' grieving family gathered in the courtroom.

This blatant display of indifference and disrespect left many, including the victim's daughter Taylor Probst, appalled. "These guys did not respect the court whatsoever. They were just d*****g around the entire time," said Taylor to KSNV after the hearing.

She went on to describe how the teenagers even flipped off her and her mother during the proceedings, questioning, "How can you sit there after taking a man's life and act like such an entitled p***k?"

The accused, who had live-streamed the murder, have been charged as adults and entered not-guilty pleas to multiple felonies, including murder, battery, and grand larceny of an automobile.

Andreas met his tragic end after being intentionally struck by a car while he was riding his bicycle down a highway. The police believe that Ayala and Keys deliberately caused the collision.

Additionally, new video evidence from a local court, released on Monday, allegedly shows the teenagers laughing and intentionally striking another cyclist, aged 72, on the same day. The said victim survived but suffered a knee injury, as per the Las Vegas Review Journal.

During their extensive two-hour crime spree, the duo supposedly stole three cars, committed burglary, and caused havoc on the roads.

Shocking statements captured on police body cameras revealed Ayala's disturbing confidence in his actions. The 18-year-old, who faces 18 charges, reportedly said, "You think this juvenile [expletive] is gonna do some [expletive]? I'll be out in 30 days, I'll bet you," to the officers.

He added, "It's just ah, [expletive] ah, hit-and-run — slap on the wrist," despite not yet being informed about the accident.

Outrage ensues on the Internet over Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys' courtroom behavior

Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys' horrifying courtroom conduct ignited outrage, with many social media users condemning their actions.

On wrote, "Why they covering their faces, they wanted to be famous when they live streamed the murder..."

Another said, "It is hard to express the grotesque level of inhumanity that these individuals possess. They would kill you and your family, and they’d laugh about it. They have no souls."

"If there was ever a case for the death penalty, this would qualify," read a comment, while a person added, "That kind of evil cannot be rehabilitated. Throw away the key."

"The victims’s family can use this coverage for their statement. Showing no remorse will not sit well with a Judge. Or “Most Judges," opined one user.

Another expressed, "10 years from now when they realize they will be behind bars for the rest of their lives, they won’t be smiling. They will be begging and crying at their parole hearings."

Deputy Police Chief Nick Farese calls Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys' action a 'cowardly act'

Prosecutors believe that the murder of Andreas Probst, a former police chief in Bell, California, marked the culmination of the Jesus Ayala and Jzamir Keys' crime spree. Deputy Police Chief Nick Farese condemned the intentional act, describing it as "a cowardly act that in my 22 years of law enforcement left me personally appalled."

During a news conference, Taylor Probst remembered her father as a man of honor and integrity, stating, "Andy's life was robbed by two individuals who did not believe that lives of others matter." She urged the district attorney's office to pursue the case to "the fullest extent of the law."

While Judge Bluth has set a trial date for September 16, 2024, the teens are expected to appear in court again in March to assess trial readiness.
