Jeff also fired at police as they rushed to the home

The incident that happened on April 27 was caught on ring camera the footage of which has been released by the Weber County Attorney. Jeff also fired at police as they rushed to the home in a quiet neighborhood in North Ogden where he was shot dead in return. Footage shows Roberts calmly approaching his bother's home at 7.11 pm ringing the doorbell as the couple inside had dinner. As Scott attends the door a brief exchange follows, where Roberts appears saying he "came to see mom".

Moments later, after apparently being told the person was not there, Roberts pulls the gun out of his hoodie and shoots a volley of bullets while barging into the home as screams and shouting are heard. Then two minutes later he leaves the house quickly returning with a pump-action shotgun and a duffle bag loaded with ammo. Police, as per the report, later found it stuffed with hundreds of rounds of ammo.

'Knowing that my dad died a hero is bringing us a small bit of comfort'

"My mom is alive because my dad fought my uncle and told my mom to run. Knowing that my dad died a hero is bringing us a small bit of comfort," Kelsey Turner, Scott and Jodi's daughter wrote on the GoFundMe fundraiser. The fundraiser is to help start Jodi "rebuild her life" as she is left with no clothes or personal items.

Roberts had started a fire inside the building

When the police showed up, the camera turned on again. At that point, a fire alarm rang because Roberts had started a fire inside the building. Roberts quickly left the house and fired the handgun. In response, the police opened fire, killing Roberts instantly as he fell to the porch face-first. Bodycam footage from the aftermath showed the house engulfed in flames, throwing up clouds of black smoke that prevented authorities from entering to save Jodi Roberts right away.

Investigation is carried out where he got weapons and  ammunition

According to Weber County Attorney's Office Chief Criminal Deputy Brandon Miles, the shooting was related to a "family issue" that is still being looked into. The investigators are also conducting inquiries in California where he lived and it is still unclear where Roberts obtained the weapons and ammunition, the Daily Mail reported.
