Jason Davis, the voice behind Mikey Blumberg in Disney's animation series 'Recess', dies at 35
The industry lost yet another personality this year. Jason Davis, the man known for voicing the animation series 'Recess' on ABC, passed away on February 16 in Los Angeles. The voice actor was the grandson of Hollywood mogul Marvin Davis and philanthropist Barbara Davis and son of wine grower Nebil Zarif and Nancy Davis Rickel. He was only 35 years old at the time of death.
Davis has an illustrious family heritage. His maternal grandfather, Marvin, formerly an oilman from Denver, bought the famous production studio 20th Century Fox and sold it to Rupert Murdock in 1985. He was also recognized as the owner of Beverly Hills Hotel and Pebble Beach golf course. His wife and Davis' grandmother, Barbara, on the other hand was behind the Carousel of Hope Ball foundation which worked towards type 1 diabetes research and treatment.
As a Hollywood personality, Davis was known for voicing the character of Mikey Blumberg, on the popular Disney animation series 'Recess', since the 90s. The show ran from 1997 to 2001.
Davis was a part of the show for all six seasons of its running. Apart from 'Recess', Davis has also appeared in '7th Heaven', 'Roseanne', 'Dave's World', 'Beverly Hills Ninja', 'Rush Hour', 'Mafia!', 'The Bathroom Diaries', 'The Locusts' and 'The Crude Oasis', among many others. At the time of his death, Davis was also working on another television show called 'The Two Jasons'.
After struggling with substance abuse for years in the past, Davis successfully went through recovery and founded the charity Cure Addiction Now and was actively involved in its functioning. However, the causes and/or circumstances of his tragic demise have not yet been disclosed, as reported.
The late actor is survived by his parents Nancy and Zebil, brothers Brandon and Alexander Davis and half-sisters Isabella and Mariella Rickel.
