HOUSTON, TEXAS: A missing Houston man has reportedly been discovered murdered inside his car just a week after another man was shot and killed in his residence. James Gerald Martin III, 37, was found dead on Wednesday, February 1 with multiple gunshot wounds, according to officials.

Martin’s remains were found inside his vehicle at his home in the 1700 block of TC Jester Boulevard, where 35-year-old Dana Lars Ryssdal was found fatally shot on January 27. Ryssdal was discovered after the local police responded to Martin’s residence for a welfare check. He was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead before being taken to hospital, as per The Sun.

Why did Houston police report James Martin missing?

Houston police previously confirmed that Martin was not a suspect in Ryssdal's killing but reported him missing on Monday and asked the public's help to locate him. Authorities also revealed that they are looking for Ryssdal’s 2002 white Dodge Ram pickup truck bearing Oregon license plate 915NLP, which was said to be missing from the residence. The vehicle was reportedly found abandoned off a roadway in the 6900 block of Cullen Boulevard on January 30.

Martin’s neighbors told ABC that they always knew something was not right in his residence. The 2,450-square-foot home is one of 11 houses in a gated community and was purchased by Martin’s parents in March 2022. The neighbors even called the police after they saw a car that had been left running in the garage for several hours. The motive for these shootings is not known and no suspects have been identified so far. Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any tips or information on any suspects involved in the murders.

Who killed Eunice Dwumfour? Similar murder in New Jersey confounds cops

Martin's death came on the same day a New Jersey councilwoman was also shot in her car outside her home. Eunice Dwumfour, 30, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in her white Nissan SUV after it crashed near the Camelot at La Mer apartment complex in Sayreville on February 1. Authorities currently believe that Dwumfor, who worked for a Nigeria-based church group, was the intended target of the shooting.

Her neighbors claimed they saw the shooter run off to the Garden State Parkway, which edges the complex. The Sayreville police and Middlesex County officials have launched an investigation into the shooting. It has been days since Dwumfour’s death but officials have not released any details about the suspect. Her damaged SUV was seen being towed away by the authorities in the early hours of Thursday morning.
