The film is reaching the masses through word-of-mouth promotions. Asking fellow movie buffs to add 'Self-Reliance' to their watchlist, a social media user posted, "Do yourself a favor and watch #SelfReliance on Hulu this weekend. Hysterical, creative and surprisingly heartwarming directorial debut from Jake Johnson. It feels like what would happen if Nick Miller made PALM SPRINGS, and I mean that as the highest compliment."

Another heartwarming review from a fan reads, "Self Reliance is ridiculously good! Jake Johnson is wonderful behind and infront of the camera. His use of different lenses was dynamic. His use of Horror undertones added much needed tension alongside all the drama and laughs. I would love to see him tackle a Horror project."

What is the plot of 'Self Reliance'?
Tommy, a disillusioned middle-aged man in Los Angeles, receives a once-in-a-lifetime offer to win $1 million by taking part in a reality show on the dark web. For him to win the cash prize, he has to stay alive for 30 days while a bunch of hunters attempt to kill him.
He finds a loophole in the game - the hunters can kill him only when he is alone. So, he goes on to convince his family, friends, and strangers to stay with him 24/7 while they don't believe the game is real.
