Any meaningful conversation about Marvel without the mention of the ever-so-famous 'Captain America' seems incomplete. This is probably the most prominent role in Chris Evan's career. However, Chris gave up his role as Captain America in 2019 after the 'Avengers: End Game' movie.

However, the actor is reteaming with Marvel’s Russo Brothers for 'The Gray Man', which is among July’s Netflix releases. The movie sees the Russo brothers collaborating with ‘Captain America’ star Chris Evans and superstar Ryan Gosling.

The Russos have recently shared the new movie's connection to 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'. The Winter Soldier was the first time Joe and Anthony Russo partnered with Marvel Studios, and the movie remains among the top ranked Marvel films. In an interview with ComicBook, the filmmakers shared how the two films have a connection with each other. They stated, "We read it years ago while we were making Winter Soldier, and we actually did the first adaptation of it in between takes while we were directing Winter Soldier as a potential movie to direct after we were done with it. But then we got asked to do Civil War and then Avengers, so we put this on the shelf for a few years."

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo took the world by storm after directing ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier’ in 2012. The movie turned out to be a huge success and is still considered to be one of the top movies produced by Marvel. The Russos revealed that they were not expecting to end up subsequently helming 'Captain America: Civil War', 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame' after the 2012 blockbuster. Four massive Marvel films took up their time, but they were eventually able to come back to 'The Gray Man', and cast their Marvel star for a completely different role than Steve Rogers.

Chris Evans already had an idea of something like this coming along his way as he was told of the 'Gray Man' role at the end of Endgame’s production, when the brothers asked him what he was going to do next and he shared with them he wanted to "take risks moving forward."

While promoting the Netflix movie, filmmaker Anthony Russo opened up about their approach while making the action flick and how their past experiences with Marvel helped them in creating a better narrative. In an interview with Screen Rant, Anthony revealed that they approached ‘The Gray Man’ with the vision of a “narrative universe” that could spawn spin-off shows and a wide range of movies.
